魏志军教授认为痔病多因肝失疏泄、脾虚失摄、肾失固摄相兼为病，但关键在于督脉亏虚、腰脊失养，病机总属本虚标实，病理因素包括湿热和瘀血。魏教授主张治疗痔病从督脉和肝、脾、肾三脏入手，升督补肾、疏肝健脾、壮脊通络，同时不忘祛湿除热、活血化瘀，以消除两大病理因素，从而达到标本同治的目的。附验案一则。
