A rapid and accurate detection method for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) is essential for effectively treating tuberculosis. However, current detection methods cannot meet these clinical requirements because the methods are slow or of low specificity. Consequently, a new highly specific ssDNA aptamer against M. tuberculosis reference strain H37Rv was selected by using the whole-cell systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment technique.
