Angiogenesis in the infarct periphery can improve blood flow. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been considered a potential therapeutic target for stroke. Buyang Huanwu decoction (BYHWD) is a classic traditional formula in traditional Chinese medicine and is used to treat stroke; in addition, the promotion effects on VEGF protein expression have been confirmed.
