从医学理论形成的角度分析中西医医学差异及其优劣形成的原因发现：第一，二者的研究对象不同；第二，二者的知识基础迥异；第三，二者所采用的方法论不同。在比较差异的同时，我们不难窥见中西医两种医学的各自优缺点：中医的优势在于宏观把握，西医的缺点是过于孤立和片面。西医学借助现代科学技术手段对病因探究具体、深入，在器质性疾病治疗中游刃有余；而中医学立足于从内外环境去研究疾病的发生，对致病因素的认识抽象、笼统，于器质性疾病治疗回天乏力。

Three differences could be found by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of Troditional Chinese medicine and Westem medicine from theory formation aspect. First, their subjects are different. Secondly, the knowledge bases are very different. Third, the methods used in the two medicine are not same.
