Vibration characteristics of a rub-impact rotor system supported on oil film bearings were investigated. By assuming that the oil film forces were from the short bearing approximation, elastic impact and the Coulomb type of frictional relationship, a nonlinear mathematical model was presented with piecewise linear stiffness and nonlinear oil film forces.
