Objective To study the synthesis of an antioxidative compound 3,4,4′, 5-tetrahydroxystilbene. Methods 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid and anisaldehyde, the starting material, went through reduction, halogenations, Wittingn-Honner, condensation and demethylation reactions to produce the final product.
