OBJECTIVE: To investigate a new way for the identification of Chinese traditional medcines by distinguishing Polygonatum odoratum from its adulterants in order to provide the molecular evidence for its quality evaluation. METHODS: Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to analyze the genetic relationships. Dendrogram was constructed by UPGMA. RESULTS: There was a rich genetic polymorphism between P. odoratum and P. cyrtonema.
