BACKGROUND The phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase-B/mechanistic target of rapamycin（PI3K/Akt/mTOR） signalling pathway is crucial for cell survival, differentiation, apoptosis and metabolism. Xihuang pills（XHP） are a traditional Chinese preparation with antitumour properties.
